Mind is a tool that needs to be tamed and trained to work for us. Mind is a great tool, but a poor master! Mind is in fact like an AI model that needs intense training on the right inputs!
We are experts in making resolutions on multiple occasions - new year, diwali, birthdays, etal. I am not sure of the success rate in following these resolutions. In making resolutions and failing repeatedly we are sending a message to the mind that it's OK to fail. This gets to a sub-conscious level and there is a huge resistance to change, which keeps increasing with passage of time.
It may often be better we do not make any resolutions / plans too often if there is a high probability of failing on those. Often these are emotional decisions when one goes through some challenging situation, but soon forgotten once we are out of the situation. Maintaining emotional balance and not getting carried away for every small issue in life will keep us away from frequent resolutions and the consequent bad training to the mind!
It's also important to be realistic on goals. Planning to get up early is OK, but setting the alarm for 4 AM when one is accustomed to waking up at 8 AM is a sure shot recipe for failure to adhere to the plan!
