Bhagavad Gita has inspired millions of people around the world with its immensely practical spirituality!
It is a concise form of the spiritual sciences developed and perfected many Millenia ago in India. When one reads the Gita, it appears to be a teaching about many things - Yoga, Bhakti (devotion), renunciation, equanimity, Karma (selfless action) and ultimate spiritual liberation (moksha). How does one convert this sublime spiritual teaching into a movie - with characters, action, dialogues, et al!
It is indeed a surprise that the director GV Iyer, dared to make a movie on the abstract concepts of spirituality expositioned in the Gita. The director sets the movie in the context of the Mahabharata war amidst the warring factions of the two cousins - Pandavas and Kauravas. The Hero of the story is Arjuna, the foremost of the great warriors on either sides! Arjuna gets desperate just at the beginning of the war, which is where Krishna teaches him the Gita. Arjuna goes on to win the war and conquer his enemies on the opposing side.
A Focus on Spiritual Growth
In the movie the director uses this background but focusses entirely on spiritual growth! This is in line with the great masters of the sacred land who, over the centuries wrote commentaries on the Gita to help people grow spiritually. Mr. GV Iyer, is no less a master in his genius creation of this movie. Using Arjuna as the main character he shows how one can progress spiritually using the teachings enshrined in the Gita.
The movie is entirely made in Sanskrit. However English subtitles make it easy for everyone to understand the essence. It is widely available on Youtube!
This is a must watch movie for someone wanting to understand the essence of the Gita or to grow spiritually!
